This friday, the 8th of april, we released the new album “6”. The response has been quite overwhelming, with great reviews and great response from the people that are most important to us – you guys.
We’ve been busy rehearsing the new songs this week, and even found time to record a little something that will be released about a month from now. We had some setbacks in the form of Stefan catching pneumonia in the midst of all this, so he and Gotte missed out on friday nights celebration of the album (Gotte was scheduled for the night shift, saving lives, at the hospital we´re he works). Emma, Rickard and Jens celebrated with champagne and dinner at a great burger joint, accompanied by long time friend and singer songwriter extraordinaire Lars Bygdén.
If you haven’t heard the album it’s out at all the major streaming sites. It’s also available in physical form at both online and physical retailers. The vinyl version of the album is a bit delayed, because of the huge demand for vinyl, but should arrive late may or early june. Be sure to check it out though because it’s truly a work of art.
You can find the album here:

Finally, the moment is here! We’re very proud to present a teaser trailer for the new album, with snippets from all the tracks on our upcoming album “6”, that is due for release in april 2016.
We are, of course, very excited to reveal a little more of the music on the album and hope that this will wet your appetite for what’s to come. And for the swedes out there, there’s a special surprise embedded, regarding a very special guest…
Two week has gone by, since the release of “Över gränsen”, and we are thrilled by the reception. Now it´s time to unleash the video for the song. It’s directed by Emil Ryderup, that also directed the video for “The Hole” by our dear friend Lars Bygdén (check it out if you haven´t seen it). Crank up the volume and enjoy! And don´t forget to share this gem and let us know what you think about it.
At last! Today we released “Över gränsen” – the first single from the forthcoming album “6”. It’s out on iTunes, Deezer, Apple Music, Spotitfy and Google Play.

We also did a world premiere live performance of the song on a swedish award show called Musikförläggarnas pris (The Publishers Award) in front of some of Swedens biggest artists, publishers and record companies. It was a bit nerve-wracking, because our computers sound card broke during soundcheck. Everything worked out in the end and we did a killer performance with the great Maxida Märak.
In the next couple of days we will also release the video for “Över gränsen”. It will really be something special so stay tuned for more Garmarna goodies. 🙂
Earlier this summer we had a photo session with the magnificent Severus Tenenbaum. Since we will probably never use a press photo with happy smiles on our faces we might as well share this one with you. Now I’ll get back to listening to the first two finished tracks of the new album, Törsten and Timmarna.
We’re just a couple of weeks away from our deadline for the new album. Stefan is finishing up songs in his studio at a frantic pace and is supposed to deliver the first batch of tracks – Törsten, Timmarna and Över alla gränser – to Sank for mixing next week.
Since we have recorded a lot more material than we planned for, we’ve started talking about another release. We’re not sure in which format right now, but we’ll keep you posted in the near future. Exciting news right?
During the last week there’s also been a lot of discussion in the band about the album title and I think we have come to a conclusion. It starts with an N. That’s all I’m able to say right now. Feel free to make wild guesses in the comments below.
It’s Jens here. I’m on the train to Sundsvall after three hectic days of Garmarna work in Stockholm.
I’ve been working with Stefan in his studio and we recorded percussion and electronic drums. We managed to finish recording drums on ten tracks, with percussion styles ranging from tablas to dancehall style beats.
Today we also shot press pictures for the new album release with Severus Tenenbaum and did the cover shots for the album with Pelle Ossler.
In between photo shoots we found the time to sign our new record deal. Good result for three days work, right?
Garmarna would like to wish all of our followers a very happy easter with a clip from Rickards latest bass session in Stefans studio. Hope you enjoy this little easter egg.
We haven’t done any updates in a while, but the Stockholm chapter of Garmarna has been busy in Stefans studio as often as possible (remember we have family obligations nowadays). Emma has also done some killer vocal tracks and right now I’m listening to three rough mixes.
It really sounds like a refreshing and daring step forward, musically, and it´s really exciting to hear the result. Many of the songs have been in a demo state for about ten years, some even longer, but it really feels like the songs are taken to new heights and new directions. Dare I say this might turn out to be the best album we´ve done so far? 🙂
